Aigéan Restaurant
Aigéan Restaurant approached us for a rebrand to incorporate the acquisition of their new, Michelin star-winning Head Chef, Padraig O Raghallaigh
Get in TouchThe Brief
Aigéan wanted to modernise with a vibrant colour scheme to match the vibrant location of the restaurant in affluent Sandymount. With their new acquisition of a Michelin star chef, they took the opportunity to bring the branding to the fore.
Given the description of ‘vibrant, modern and upmarket’, we went to work and created the below.
Colour Scheme
Aigéan wanted to modernise with a vibrant colour scheme to match the vibrant location of the restaurant in affluent Sandymount.
As a predominantly seafood restaurant, specialising in that day’s freshest catches, blue took a natural priority in colour selection, with a complimentary dark and light blue pairing. An off-white/beige popped nicely from the dark blue without creating a jarring contrast, whilst a bright pink, almost reminiscent of shrimp or lobster, was chosen to create a real modern feel.
Finally a coffee brown was selected for accenting within the stationary of the brand.
Typography
Cormorant Infant was the chosen main typeface for Aigéan. As a member of the Cormorant family, the serif style font was simplified in order to massively increase readability and accessibility, whilst maintaining the key features of elegance and sophistication.
In order to simulate a signature but still keeping it accessible and readable, I chose Shadows Into Light as the secondary font, utilising it to show the Michelin star chef that Aigéan had recruited.
The Final Product
Aigéan signed off and rolled out the new branding immediately, with the new signage up at the restaurant within a week and stationary ordered, including new menu designs, which we’ll update this page with soon.
Testimonial
“We’re very excited about this next step in the Aigéan journey. A huge thank you to Nathan for the expertise and advice on the branding, and for putting up with our many requests and being patient when explaining his choices to us. We loved it but as perfectionists within our restaurant we wanted to make sure every aspect was thought out and correct for our brand to last well into the future – Nathan proved that he was as meticulous about this brand as we are about our food and his research and talent have set up our brand to succeed!“
